Our goal is a bay and
rivers free of plastic
We stop trash in the rivers of Panama City before it reaches the Bay, and we work on education and advocacy to reduce it at the source.
Take actionRivers are the city arteries
Each year, more than 800,000 kg of waste end up in the Bay of Panama, carried by the rivers that flow through the city. With every rain, the rivers become highways of trash: bottles, packaging, even refrigerators end up on the beaches and mangroves.
Our bay is a Ramsar site of international importance, a refuge for more than 2 million migratory birds that generates multiple ecosystem services for the city and its inhabitants.
Mission
We implement innovative solutions in rivers and their communities to mitigate waste pollution, facilitating opportunities, educating, and empowering citizens to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable Panama.
Vision
To be leaders in the conservation of biodiversity and a healthy environment, working for behavioral changes and sustainable environments. By 2030, we envision a Bay of Panama free of waste, with barriers operating in the city's main rivers and communities that recycle in every neighborhood.
We operate in three complementary pillars
Stopping pollution requires both immediate responses and structural changes. That is why we work simultaneously on three pillars that have an impact in the short, medium, and long terms.
Innovation
Immediate impact
We install and operate floating barriers at strategic points along rivers, capturing waste before it reaches the sea. The impact is visible from the first day.
Incident
Medium-term impact
We work alongside riverside communities through workshops and recycling programs led by their own neighbors. We monitor and document our work to provide evidence to public policy decision-makers.
Education
Long-term impact
We train public school teachers who multiply the message in their classrooms, and we open the doors of La Casa de Wanda: Panama's first interactive environmental education center dedicated to plastic pollution.
Our Results to date
Since 2017 we have started this journey, this is what we have achieved:
Kg of waste intercepted before reaching the sea since 2022
Visitors in Wanda's House
Regulated rivers
Families benefiting from community programs
